Oshkosh North has partnered with TDS to support an Appreciation Program called Attendance Matters! Each month, students are entered for a chance for a Certificate of Achievement and a gift card for having a wonderful GPA and great attendance. The OASD Maintenance Department is currently looking for individuals who are interested in working on our summer team. We will be hiring the following positions:

• Custodial Team members - Five total positions
  • Help with general cleaning duties, move furniture, etc.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and own means of transportation
     
• Assistant Groundskeeper/Landscaper
  • Haul wood chips, plantings, weeding, fill holes, trim work, etc.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
     
• Mower
  • Running a 16 foot mower
  • Must be at least 18 years old
     
• Mow Team member - Two total positions
  • Running a zero turn mower and trimming 
  • Must have a valid drivers license (18 years old preferred)
     
• Painting Assistant
  • Help with painting and wall repairs
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Starting wage has been bumped up from last year. We offer 40 hours a week, no nights, and no weekends. Please keep in mind, we prefer the applicant's to be a (current) Senior in high school or older. It is finally March and that means that it is National Athletic Training Month! We like to use this month to help people get to know us as Athletic Trainers and what we bring to our schools, communities, and companies that we help serve. 

Athletic Trainers deal with 5 main domains, that being; Injury Prevention, Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis, Immediate and Emergency Care, Treatment and Rehabilitation, and Organization/Professional Health and Well-being.  Athletic Trainers work in a multitude of different fields and are able to help people of all different ages and skill sets. You can find Athletic Trainers in K-12 schools, colleges, professional sports, hospitals, clinics, factories, police and fire stations, and even in the military. While the Athletic Trainers you may be familiar with usually work with students and athletes, we are able to help with all ages and with more than just orthopedic injuries.

In our Ascension Wisconsin Sports Medicine - Fox Valley schools, Athletic Trainers do more than just tape ankles and help with water(s). Athletic Trainers at our schools are/have been responsible for: injury diagnosis, creating team workouts, individual rehabilitation programs, summer strength programs, teaching American Heart Association First Aid, CPR and AED, teaching Stop the Bleed, concussion baseline testing, mediation between physicians and people, helping with implementation/running COVID policies, assisting with/in the hospitals, and countless other things.

Athletic Trainers pride ourselves on being able to juggle all of our responsibilities, while being a personable and bright spot for our athletes and patients everyday. We love our athletes, schools, and communities. We enjoy the time that we get to feel a part of all of our teams, through the ups and downs, the late nights and early mornings, and through hot summers and the cold winters. Please take this month as an opportunity to get to know us and who we are and what we do. We look forward to getting to know new people and growing our communities. 

Here at Oshkosh North, we have 3 Licensed Athletic Trainers; Joe Fox who has been with Oshkosh North for 16 years, Greg Schultz who has been with Oshkosh North for 4 years, and Sean Gough who has been with Oshkosh North for 1 year. Our room is located right across from the weight room by the vending machines. One of us will be in our room every weekday from 10:00 AM to 6:00PM. Joe is in during the day on Mondays and Thursdays and Greg is in during the day on Tuesdays and Fridays, with both of them alternating who comes in on Wednesdays. Sean is in during the afternoons and for event coverages. We encourage anyone with sports injuries or orthopedic questions to reach out to us and we can help.

The Oshkosh Recreation Department is seeking individuals to lead youth tumbling/movement classes.  Participation or competing in gymnastics, cheer or dance at the high school or club level is helpful but not required.  Dates and times needed are every Monday and Thursday from March 13 through April 20 from 4:30pm-7:00pm.  Rate of pay is $12.00 per hour.  If interested, please complete an application found at www.oshkoshrecdept.com or contact Lori Gentry at 424-0243 asap.

ONHS Staff Directory 2022-23

Last year we started our first parent advisory committee at North High School. It was a huge success.  The goal is to increase parent voice and ideas within the North Community. Within three short meetings, the group was able to bring appreciation and joy to staff through treats and a week of appreciation during Staff Appreciation Week.  

This year they already organized and provided breakfast for the first week back for staff.  They also are planning ways to increase North Pride through family or school events.

If you are interested in joining the Parent Advisory Committee at North, meeting date is  April 19th from 5:00-6:00PM in the North Auditorium.  We welcome you to any or all of the meetings.  

In an effort to improve safety and overall efficiency of traffic flow during before school and after school we ask that parents/guardians pick up their student in either the East or West parking lots. Please do not use the circle drive on Smith Ave as Kobussen school buses use this area to pick up and drop off students. We thank you for your understanding as we continue to work to ensure student safety during the before school and after school pick up times.

This section will be updated with important senior class information throughtout the school year. 

MESSAGE SENT TO SENIORS AND FAMILIES - MARCH 30, 2023

Just a couple quick reminders about the senior video that is shown at graduation.

1. If you didn't turn in your baby picture yet, we can still get it in, but please do so at your earliest convenience. You can either email it to Ms. Klein (sara.klein@oshkosh.k12.wi.us) or bring in a hard copy to Room 235 (we will scan it and get the picture back to you).

2. This is the time for you to send us other pictures to be put in to the video. PLEASE follow these directions closely, as we are only allowed a certain amount of time for the video, so space is limited.

         * each student is allowed to send a maximum of FIVE pictures (you can send less, but more will not be accepted)

         * we are looking for pictures of seniors (so the picture should have only seniors in it or at least MOSTLY                             seniors...these should be pictures with friends...not family ones)

         * specific pictures we are looking for are: friends pictures (hanging out, at events, etc), sports pictures, or picture               from extracurricular activities. 

We would like these pictures as soon as you can. Once we run out of room, we won't be accepting any more pictures.

HIGH SCHOOL MEAL SERVICES 2022-23

The Food Services Department encourages students to purchase Combo meals using the student’s food service account.  The account is accessed by the student’s pin number.  Combo meals provide the best value both nutritionally and economically.  

1.    All students are required to know their pin number.  Knowing this number moves the line faster. 
2.    In the Food Court, all students purchasing a combo meal will enter their pin number to access the student’s food service account.  
3.    Students paying full price for their meals will have the cost of the combo meal deducted from the student’s individual food service account.  They may also pay cash for the combo meal.  There must be money in the student’s food service account to eat.  If there is not money in the student’s account the student must pay cash to eat.  
4.    Students eligible for free meals will enter their pin number to verify they are eligible to receive a combo meal at no cost.  
5.    Students eligible for reduced meals will enter their pin number and the cost of a reduced price combo meal will be deducted from the student’s individual food service account. They may also choose to pay cash for the reduced price combo meal. There must be money in the student’s food service account to eat.  If there is not money in the student’s account the student must pay cash to eat.  

The Student’s food service account may be used to purchase a la carte items.
Parents / guardians may choose to disallow a la carte purchases.

MEALS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:  Any student that was receiving or was eligible for free or reduced price meals at the end of the last school year will be temporarily eligible in the beginning of the school year until a new application is received.  The student must have been in the school district last year for this to occur.  

***At this time, all students will receive free meals again for the 2022 – 2023 School Year.  However, we still highly encourage families to fill out free and reduced applications in order to qualify for other benefits.

APPLICATIONS FOR FREE AND REDUCED PRICE MEALS will be available online on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal in mid-July and will also be mailed out in the US mail to all households in mid-July.  Please return your completed application to the Food Services Office, Oshkosh West High School, 375 N. Eagle St., Oshkosh, WI  54902, or the School Office your child attends on or before the first day of school.

LIMITED LUNCH SERVICE AT THE HIGH SCHOOLS:  Students who have a negative Food Service Balance will be allowed to eat a limited lunch.  The limited lunch will consist of a cheese sandwich (as the entrée) and then will be allowed to have the fruit, veggies and milk offered and the account will get charged accordingly for the limited lunch.  They will NOT be able to have their choice of an entrée.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM

The food service department is seeking individuals to work for our department serving breakfast and/ or lunch. The majority of these positions available are 1.5 - 2 hours in length and are during the breakfast and lunch service time, which varies with the school.  Opportunities for longer shifts and additional hours may also be available.  Please see the WECAN at https://wecan.education.wisc.edu website for employment opportunities along with applying for positions within the Food Service Department.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students who are 18 years of age or older (“eligible students”) certain rights with respect to the student’s education records. These rights are:
1. The right to inspect and review the student’s education records within 45 days after the day a written request is received.
2. The right to request the amendment of the student’s education records that the parent or eligible student believes are inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation of the student’s privacy rights under FERPA.
3. The right to provide written consent before the school discloses personally identifiable information (PII) from the student’s education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
4. The right to know that school districts can disclose education records to each other without parent consent if student is enrolling or transferring to another district.
5. The right to file a complaint with the US Department of Education concerning alleged failures by a school to comply with the requirements of FERPA. The name and address of the Office that administers FERPA are:

In our continual effort ot increase safety and security at our schools, the Oshkosh Area School District has expanded its safety protocols through the use of the Raptor Visitor Management System. The new visitor management system will be implemented on March 16, 2020, at all OASD schools.

Upon entering a school building, visitors will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID or simply provide their name and date of birth, which will be checked against a national sex offender database to ensure that registered sexual offenders are not entering our buildings. The system will also create a badge for visitors to wear while visiting a school. All visitors that wish to enter student areas of a school OR pick-up a student during school hours will be required to sign-in using the Raptor system. Visitors that are simply dropping something off at the office or meeting with office staff will not need to use the system. 

If a parent/guardian or visitor does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name and date of birth into the Raptor system. The only data collected is the individual’s name, date of birth, and picture. No other pieces of information are collected nor is any of this information shared with any outside agency. 

The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority and the District has been proactive in implementing a layered approach to school safety. The Raptor Visitor Management System will allow us to quickly identify those that should not have access to our schools, and ensure that we continue to provide a safe and welcoming school environment. 

We appreciate your willingness to volunteer your time. Please work directly with the school you would like to volunteer regarding any questions you may have about your application and its status. Please note that a volunteer application only needs to be filled out one time per school year regardless if you want to volunteer in multiple schools. If you are selected to volunteer, please let the school secretary know that you have completed this form. By completing and submitting this form you agree to the following statement:

"I authorize the Oshkosh Area School District to conduct a full and complete criminal background check. I understand that any misrepresentation on this statement may result in immediate disqualification for any volunteer service within the Oshkosh Area School District.
