Veterans Day Program
Oshkosh North will be holding its 9th Annual Veterans Day Program to honor veterans and their bravery to our country. The event consists of the student body, school administration, special guest speakers and most importantly the veterans themselves.
This event will be held on Monday, November 11th, 2019 from 10:00-11:00am in the North Fieldhouse. There will be a reception at 9:00am in the North Commons for all veterans and their guests and a luncheon following from 11:00-12:00 noon. Veterans and guests may enter through Door #20 by the tennis courts and proceed to the gym.
Our school and community want to come together to recognize and honor the veterans who faithfully and courageously served our country.
Sweat for a Vet - November 11
Oshkosh North Communities classes are hosting an event on November 11th for Veterans Day called “Sweat for a Vet”. Did you know that the suicide rate for veterans in Wisconsin is higher than the national average? Just to think about that it saddening. Out of 19.5 million veterans in America alone 17 veterans end up taking their own life, DAILY! We are spreading awareness in our community because all veterans suffer from the dramatic change in today's society when they come back from combat, and don't even show it. Most suffer with PTSD which is even worse, especially when they have to go through it alone. We are coming together to raise money to train a service dog to help decrease the rate of suicides here in Wisconsin.
We are partnering with “Crossfit Oshkosh” and raising money for “Got Your Six K9s” for the training of veteran service dogs. We want to make a difference in people's lives by giving them a chance to feel like they have someone by their side, and help them to become socially connected and feel comfortable in the community with their service dogs.
This event will occur on November 11th at Oshkosh North. Check-in is from 6:00-6:30am, and the event will be from 6:30-7:30am. Parking is in the west lot by door 7. All levels are encouraged to participate. There is a simple walking path, or you may want to take a bigger challenge to work up a sweat with activities like a bear crawl.
If you are interested in participating or even donating towards the event, tickets are $25. The easiest way to do that would be going to www.communitesonhs.org and clicking on the link under “Sweat for a Vet Registration”. There you will have the option to donate or pay with a card. If you would like another option of payment, we are accepting checks and cash at the door as well.
Please consider sharing our efforts to make a difference in the lives of the people who fought for us.

Extra yearbooks are sold at the end of the year, but it’s not guaranteed how many will be available and they have sold out in the past.
Senior Class Information
SENIOR PORTRAITS - THOMPSON PHOTOGRAPHY
Because of how successful last year’s senior picture day at North was, we decided to again provide seniors who still need to get their senior pictures done an opportunity to do it at school. The deadline to turn senior pictures in is October 31. The yearbook staff can receive them by email (sent to oshkoshnorthyearbook@gmail.com), by disk, or hard copy (wallet sized) to Room 235.
If students do not have pictures yet, we have a professional photographer coming to Oshkosh North on Thursday, November 21. Any student who gets his/her picture taken that day will be assured a slot in the yearbook. Thompson Photography, located on High Ave. here in Oshkosh, will be coming to North on November 21st for the morning. Students will need to make an appointment with Ms. Klein to get a pass to get out of class. At the appointed time, students will go to the auditorium (Lecture Room B) where Thompson will be set up. Photo packages are at discounted rates…but what’s even better is that students do NOT have to purchase a package to get their photo taken and to have that photo in the yearbook. It’s a perfect opportunity for students who don’t have a lot of extra money, but still want a professional picture included in the yearbook.
Email Sara Klein at sara.klein@oshkosh.k12.wi.us to make an appointment or come see her in Room 235. Appointments are first come, first served, so don’t delay if this is something that you would like to do.
SENIOR ADS
Do you have a senior? This is a GREAT way to honor him or her, by taking out an ad in the Yearbook. Seniors love this, and it's a lot of fun. I have staff who are trained in designing these ads, so if you don't want to create your own (most parents don't), you can send us the pictures and what you'd like it to say, and we'll create it for you! Ads are due in mid-February, but we'll accept them as early as now. If you are interested, let me know and I'll send you a contract with more information. Prices are $200 for a full page ad, $120 for a half page ad, and our most popular, which is $75 for a quarter page ad.
BABY PICTURES FOR SENIOR SLIDESHOW
North is unique in that we have a senior slideshow shown at graduation each year, which features each senior's senior picture and baby picture (among other things). We don't really start working on this until the end of winter, but if you'd like to send a baby picture now while you're thinking about it, it would go to the same emails as the senior pictures. If you need to drop off a hard copy, you would not get that back until the spring (as we won't be doing any scanning of those for awhile), so you might want to hold off on those.
