YEARBOOK ORDERING
Yearbooks are for sale right now on Infinite Campus. Until September 30, you can take advantage of the early bird discount. Yearbooks are $55 right now. Starting Oct. 1, they go up to $65. To order a yearbook, go to IC to fees and then to optional payments. You may also order by check or cash at the school bank.

PICTURE RETAKE DAY - OCTOBER 13
If your student was unable to have their picture taken on September 6 & 7 or if they wish to have them retaken, picture retake day will be held on October 13 from 7:30-11:00AM in the Auditorium. HOMECOMING DANCE TICKETS FOR SALE OCTOBER 3-7
Homecoming tickets will be sold October 3-7 for $15.  Students must have their student ID to purchase tickets.  They will be sold during both lunches by door #1.

Students must be in good standing to attend.  This means:
1. They can not be truant or have any unexcused absences that were not cleared up by detentions.  
2. They also can not have any unserved detentions.  
3. No In School or Out of School suspension in the last 60 days.  
4. No fees or fines
If there are fees or fines, students must make a plan for how they will be paid through a payment plan.  The first payment must be made on the payment plan in order to be eligible to attend.  If there are issues with paying, students should reach out to administration.

HOMECOMING PARADE - OCTOBER 7
We would like to inform you about the Oshkosh North Homecoming Parade for the 2022-2023 school year. This will be our eleventh annual parade, held on October seventh, 2022. The parade will begin at the corner of Tyler Ave and Josslyn Street, then continue down Josslyn Street towards Titan Stadium. The parade will begin at 5:30 pm and should last until 6:00 pm. Following the parade will be a tailgate party outside of Titan Stadium as well as the Oshkosh North Homecoming game.
Please bring your family and friends to show your support for our North Spartans. We will also be having a food drive in the parade! Please bring nonperishable food items or personal hygiene items. Anything can make a difference! These items will be collected during the parade and outside of the stadium at the football game. Thank you!

Last year we started our first parent advisory committee at North High School. It was a huge success.  The goal is to increase parent voice and ideas within the North Community. Within three short meetings, the group was able to bring appreciation and joy to staff through treats and a week of appreciation during Staff Appreciation Week.  

This year they already organized and provided breakfast for the first week back for staff.  They also are planning ways to increase North Pride through family events or during Homecoming.  

If you are interested in joining the Parent Advisory Committee at North, our first meeting is scheduled for October 12th from 5:00- 6:00 in the auditorium.  The following meeting dates are December 7th, February 15th, and April 19th at the same time and place.  We welcome you to any or all of the meetings.  

We are off to a great start to the school year.  Students have been fantastic and teachers have been so excited to reconnect with former students as well as build new relationships with students.
Just a reminder: Early Intervention Conferences will be held on October 17th from 4:00-7:00 PM.  These conferences are by invite only.  If your presence is requested you will be receiving an invite to attend.  We look forward to continuing to build partnerships with you.

Come out on October 20 to support North Athletics by having a great meal at Mike's Place Family Restaurant from 6:00AM-8:00PM. Hope to see you there and thank you for your support!

Make your season bright...

The Oshkosh North Madrigal Singers are now booking their December 2022 performances! We perform throughout the Fox Valley during the holiday season. We are also the only local caroling group that leads carols with festive handbells! We are available to perform at holiday parties, churches, nursing homes, or other events during the month of December. All performance requests must be submitted by October 31st.

Our suggested donation is $75 per 30 minute performance. All donations go towards keeping our bells working and keeping our singers dressed in our Elizabethan attire. Thank you in advance for anything you or your organization can donate.

WINTER ATHLETIC CODE MEETING - NOVEMBER 1
There will be a Winter Athletic Code Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 1st at 6:00 PM in the North auditorium. If you plan to participate in a winter sport (Girls Basketball, Gymnastics, Boys and Girls Ice Hockey - all starting on 11/7) or (Boys Basketball, Boys Swimming & Diving and Wrestling - all starting on 11/14) and didn't attend the fall code meeting in August you must attend this meeting. A parent or guardian needs to attend with the student. Student athletes please bring your chromebook with you as the paperwork needs to be signed electronically. Code meeting will last about 30 minutes and then there will be time after the meeting to get help signing the paperwork if needed. (Parents: please bring your login information for IC to complete the parent portion of the athletic paperwork.) 
 

Oshkosh North will be holding its 11th Annual Veterans Day Program to honor veterans and their bravery to our country. The event consists of the student body, school administration, special guest speaker and most importantly the veterans themselves. 

This event will be held on Thursday, November 10th, 2022 from 10:00-11:00am in the North Fieldhouse. There will be a welcome reception at 9:00am in the North Commons for all veterans and their guests.  A luncheon will follow the program from 11:00-11:45 in the North Commons. Veterans and guests may enter through Door #20 by the tennis courts and proceed to the gym.  We also plan to stream this live to the Oshkosh Media YouTube channel. In an effort to improve safety and overall efficiency of traffic flow during before school and after school we ask that parents/guardians pick up their student in either the East or West parking lots. Please do not use the circle drive on Smith Ave as Kobussen school buses use this area to pick up and drop off students. We thank you for your understanding as we continue to work to ensure student safety during the before school and after school pick up times.

FREE SENIOR PICTURES BY THOMPSON PHOTOGRAPHY - NOVEMBER 8
Seniors, if you are interested in an opportunity to get free senior pictures taken at school, Thompson Photography will be here the morning of November 8th in the Auditorium from 8:00AM-12:00noon. To take advantage of this, come to Room 235 to sign up with Ms. Klein. Appointments fill up fast and are first come, first serve, so don't delay. Thompson will take the photos for free and give a copy to the yearbook. If you'd like to purchase a copy for yourself, he has a discounted rate for this day.

HIGH SCHOOL MEAL SERVICES 2022-23

The Food Services Department encourages students to purchase Combo meals using the student’s food service account.  The account is accessed by the student’s pin number.  Combo meals provide the best value both nutritionally and economically.  

1.    All students are required to know their pin number.  Knowing this number moves the line faster. 
2.    In the Food Court, all students purchasing a combo meal will enter their pin number to access the student’s food service account.  
3.    Students paying full price for their meals will have the cost of the combo meal deducted from the student’s individual food service account.  They may also pay cash for the combo meal.  There must be money in the student’s food service account to eat.  If there is not money in the student’s account the student must pay cash to eat.  
4.    Students eligible for free meals will enter their pin number to verify they are eligible to receive a combo meal at no cost.  
5.    Students eligible for reduced meals will enter their pin number and the cost of a reduced price combo meal will be deducted from the student’s individual food service account. They may also choose to pay cash for the reduced price combo meal. There must be money in the student’s food service account to eat.  If there is not money in the student’s account the student must pay cash to eat.  

The Student’s food service account may be used to purchase a la carte items.
Parents / guardians may choose to disallow a la carte purchases.

MEALS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:  Any student that was receiving or was eligible for free or reduced price meals at the end of the last school year will be temporarily eligible in the beginning of the school year until a new application is received.  The student must have been in the school district last year for this to occur.  

***At this time, all students will receive free meals again for the 2022 – 2023 School Year.  However, we still highly encourage families to fill out free and reduced applications in order to qualify for other benefits.

APPLICATIONS FOR FREE AND REDUCED PRICE MEALS will be available online on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal in mid-July and will also be mailed out in the US mail to all households in mid-July.  Please return your completed application to the Food Services Office, Oshkosh West High School, 375 N. Eagle St., Oshkosh, WI  54902, or the School Office your child attends on or before the first day of school.

LIMITED LUNCH SERVICE AT THE HIGH SCHOOLS:  Students who have a negative Food Service Balance will be allowed to eat a limited lunch.  The limited lunch will consist of a cheese sandwich (as the entrée) and then will be allowed to have the fruit, veggies and milk offered and the account will get charged accordingly for the limited lunch.  They will NOT be able to have their choice of an entrée.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM

The food service department is seeking individuals to work for our department serving breakfast and/ or lunch. The majority of these positions available are 1.5 - 2 hours in length and are during the breakfast and lunch service time, which varies with the school.  Opportunities for longer shifts and additional hours may also be available.  Please see the WECAN at https://wecan.education.wisc.edu website for employment opportunities along with applying for positions within the Food Service Department.

OASD Teacher and Student Calendar 2022-23

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students who are 18 years of age or older (“eligible students”) certain rights with respect to the student’s education records. These rights are:
1. The right to inspect and review the student’s education records within 45 days after the day a written request is received.
2. The right to request the amendment of the student’s education records that the parent or eligible student believes are inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation of the student’s privacy rights under FERPA.
3. The right to provide written consent before the school discloses personally identifiable information (PII) from the student’s education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
4. The right to know that school districts can disclose education records to each other without parent consent if student is enrolling or transferring to another district.
5. The right to file a complaint with the US Department of Education concerning alleged failures by a school to comply with the requirements of FERPA. The name and address of the Office that administers FERPA are:

In our continual effort ot increase safety and security at our schools, the Oshkosh Area School District has expanded its safety protocols through the use of the Raptor Visitor Management System. The new visitor management system will be implemented on March 16, 2020, at all OASD schools.

Upon entering a school building, visitors will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID or simply provide their name and date of birth, which will be checked against a national sex offender database to ensure that registered sexual offenders are not entering our buildings. The system will also create a badge for visitors to wear while visiting a school. All visitors that wish to enter student areas of a school OR pick-up a student during school hours will be required to sign-in using the Raptor system. Visitors that are simply dropping something off at the office or meeting with office staff will not need to use the system. 

If a parent/guardian or visitor does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name and date of birth into the Raptor system. The only data collected is the individual’s name, date of birth, and picture. No other pieces of information are collected nor is any of this information shared with any outside agency. 

The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority and the District has been proactive in implementing a layered approach to school safety. The Raptor Visitor Management System will allow us to quickly identify those that should not have access to our schools, and ensure that we continue to provide a safe and welcoming school environment. 

We appreciate your willingness to volunteer your time. Please work directly with the school you would like to volunteer regarding any questions you may have about your application and its status. Please note that a volunteer application only needs to be filled out one time per school year regardless if you want to volunteer in multiple schools. If you are selected to volunteer, please let the school secretary know that you have completed this form. By completing and submitting this form you agree to the following statement:

"I authorize the Oshkosh Area School District to conduct a full and complete criminal background check. I understand that any misrepresentation on this statement may result in immediate disqualification for any volunteer service within the Oshkosh Area School District.
