Overview of North High School Testing information - Spring 2022

April 11th and 12th will be Aspire testing for freshmen and sophomores.  They will need a charged chromebook, something to write with, and a snack for between tests. Students who have standard time for Aspire will be done around 11:47 on Monday and 11:22 on Tuesday. School buses will run as normal. If students need to wait for a bus they will remain in the cafeteria.  Students who have extended time will be at school longer in the afternoon.  Here are the slides with more information that freshmen and sophomores went over. If they forget where their testing location is, they can check outside of student services, administration office or counseling office. Please email Mrs. Last, Assistant Principal with any questions.

Juniors and seniors will have digital learning through Canvas. They will not report to school on April 11th and April 12th.

We need your help!  Prom & Post Prom have not been held since 2019.  This year Prom & Post Prom will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022.    Both events are held at the Culver Center at UWO.  

Post Prom has been a favorite North High tradition for over twenty five years.   A committee of parents, faculty, and staff is forming to sponsor an evening filled with fun, friendship, food, and great prizes to be held after prom in a safe, substance free environment.  Our goal is to make this a special night our students will always remember.  The evening's entertainment will include a hypnotist, cash cube and raffle prizes.   A meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 6, beginning at 5:00 p.m. in Room 125 at North High School (enter through door #7 on the west side of the building).   Please consider helping us create a fun and safe night to remember for our students.

On April 12th - A Mobile Cyber Warfare Range (WICTRA) is coming to Oshkosh North.  This is an exciting opportunity to learn and experience Cyber Warfare. 

*No experience required in computer programming.
*Time slots are available.
*If you're a freshman or sophomore, you will only be able to sign up for the afternoon time slots.
*It is up to you to get to and from school for your time slot. A confirmation email will be sent later this week if you got your time slot. 
* No phones, drinks, or food.
* NO COST.

Mobile Cyber Warfare Range - April 12 flyer

Current Freshmen, Sophomores or Juniors,
If you are interested in being a part of "Link Crew" in 2022-23 please apply here to be a significant role model in the life of a freshman. The goal of "Link Crew" is to ease the transition for incoming freshmen students, while also providing a leadership opportunity for upperclassmen.  Leaders will be assigned a small group of freshmen to meet on registration day, the first day of school in homerooms, and periodically for group activities throughout the year. Deadline to register is Friday, April 15.

Dresses for Prom are available to be viewed, tried on, and obtained by appointment through the North Prom Dress Closet. Please contact Mrs. Arian Bougie at arian.bougie@oshkosh.k12.wi.us or call 920.424.7000 x6065 and leave a message to set up an appointment. North students may also stop by room 117 to set up an appointment in person. A lot of people feel most comfortable bringing a friend or two with them, and all are welcome. Some of the prom dresses are brand new!

We will recognize 162 students who are receiving academic awards and honoring 1992 Oshkosh North alumnus Representative Gordon Hintz as this year’s Hall of Fame inductee. The program will be on Friday, April 29 and will begin at 10:00AM in the North fieldhouse. We will follow a revised bell schedule. There will be floor seating for family members and guests who wish to attend. Congratulations!

GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS UPDATE - 4.5.22
It was brought to our attention that graduation announcements have Oshkosh North High School listed as the location of graduation on June 1. This is incorrect.

New graduation announcements will be reprinted with the Oshkosh Arena as the correct location. The reprinted announcements should be received in approximately 2-1/2 weeks. We will notify seniors and families when they've arrived. We sincerely apologize for this error and any inconvenience this may have caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding!

HIGH SCHOOL MEAL SERVICES 2021-22

The Food Services Department encourages students to purchase Combo meals using the student’s food service account.  The account is accessed by the student’s pin number.  Combo meals provide the best value both nutritionally and economically.  

1.    All students are required to know their pin number.  Knowing this number moves the line faster. 
2.    In the Food Court, all students purchasing a combo meal will enter their pin number to access the student’s food service account.  
3.    Students paying full price for their meals will have the cost of the combo meal deducted from the student’s individual food service account.  They may also pay cash for the combo meal.  There must be money in the student’s food service account to eat.  If there is not money in the student’s account the student must pay cash to eat.  
4.    Students eligible for free meals will enter their pin number to verify they are eligible to receive a combo meal at no cost.  
5.    Students eligible for reduced meals will enter their pin number and the cost of a reduced price combo meal will be deducted from the student’s individual food service account. They may also choose to pay cash for the reduced price combo meal. There must be money in the student’s food service account to eat.  If there is not money in the student’s account the student must pay cash to eat.  

The Student’s food service account may be used to purchase a la carte items.
Parents / guardians may choose to disallow a la carte purchases.

MEALS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:  Any student that was receiving or was eligible for free or reduced price meals at the end of the last school year will be temporarily eligible in the beginning of the school year until a new application is received.  The student must have been in the school district last year for this to occur.  

***At this time, all students will receive free meals again for the 2021 – 2022 School Year.  However, we still highly encourage families to fill out free and reduced applications in order to qualify for other benefits.

APPLICATIONS FOR FREE AND REDUCED PRICE MEALS will be available online on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal in mid-July and will also be mailed out in the US mail to all households in mid-July.  Please return your completed application to the Food Services Office, Oshkosh West High School, 375 N. Eagle St., Oshkosh, WI  54902, or the School Office your 
child attends on or before the first day of school.

 LIMITED LUNCH SERVICE AT THE HIGH SCHOOLS:  Students who have a negative Food Service Balance will be allowed to eat a limited lunch.  The limited lunch will consist of a cheese sandwich (as the entrée) and then will be allowed to have the fruit, veggies and milk offered and the account will get charged accordingly for the limited lunch.  They will NOT be able to have their choice of an entrée.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM

The food service department is seeking individuals to work for our department serving breakfast and / or lunch. The majority of these positions available are 1.5 - 2 hours in length and are during the breakfast and lunch service time, which varies with the school.  Opportunities for longer shifts and additional hours may also be available.  Please see the WECAN at https://wecan.education.wisc.edu website for employment opportunities along with applying for positions within the Food Service Department.

In our continual effort ot increase safety and security at our schools, the Oshkosh Area School District has expanded its safety protocols through the use of the Raptor Visitor Management System. The new visitor management system will be implemented on March 16, 2020, at all OASD schools.

Upon entering a school building, visitors will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID or simply provide their name and date of birth, which will be checked against a national sex offender database to ensure that registered sexual offenders are not entering our buildings. The system will also create a badge for visitors to wear while visiting a school. All visitors that wish to enter student areas of a school OR pick-up a student during school hours will be required to sign-in using the Raptor system. Visitors that are simply dropping something off at the office or meeting with office staff will not need to use the system. 

If a parent/guardian or visitor does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name and date of birth into the Raptor system. The only data collected is the individual’s name, date of birth, and picture. No other pieces of information are collected nor is any of this information shared with any outside agency. 

The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority and the District has been proactive in implementing a layered approach to school safety. The Raptor Visitor Management System will allow us to quickly identify those that should not have access to our schools, and ensure that we continue to provide a safe and welcoming school environment. 

We appreciate your willingness to volunteer your time. Please work directly with the school you would like to volunteer regarding any questions you may have about your application and its status. Please note that a volunteer application only needs to be filled out one time per school year regardless if you want to volunteer in multiple schools. If you are selected to volunteer, please let the school secretary know that you have completed this form. By completing and submitting this form you agree to the following statement:

"I authorize the Oshkosh Area School District to conduct a full and complete criminal background check. I understand that any misrepresentation on this statement may result in immediate disqualification for any volunteer service within the Oshkosh Area School District.
