Meet Luna!

Oshkosh North High School has an opportunity for a registered therapy dog to visit periodically. Luna is a five year old cockapoo and a registered therapy dog through Alliance of Therapy Dogs 

(https://www.therapydogs.com/). 

Luna will be accompanying Jana Weigandt, a Program Support Coordinator, at various times. Therapy dogs can help reduce stress, provide comfort, and help improve emotional well-being and self-esteem.

New this year! You will purchase your yearbook and your senior ads through the Walsworth Yearbook website. It's an easy process and keeps everything in one place!

1. Go to the website yearbookforever.com

2. Search for Oshkosh North in the "search for school name" field (just type in Oshkosh and it will pop up).

3. Under the "select your school" menu, click on Oshkosh North.

4. It will allow you to purchase a yearbook and/or purchase a senior ad. Just follow the prompts and check out!

Yearbooks are on early-bird discount right now until the end of September (save $10) so don't delay! (Senior ads can be purchased until Valentine's Day, so no hurry on those). Just an FYI, we did sell out of yearbooks last year. We don't order extra; we only order the number that are ordered. The first Parent Advisory meeting for the 2024/25 school year will be held Sept. 18 starting at 5:00 in the North Auditorium (enter through door 7). If you have a question or concern that you would like discussed please complete this form to have your question/concern added to the agenda.

The Oshkosh Recreation Dept is hiring Spanish Instructors to teach basic beginner language to preschool students. Class will run from early-October through mid-November. Rate of pay is $15.00/hour. The Oshkosh Recreation Department is seeking student volunteers to assist with an outdoor event on Saturday, September 28 from approximately 5:00-9:00 pm. Oshkosh North is looking for interested parents to join the Oshkosh North Parent Advisory Committee.  Advisory members are particularly focused on how to increase parent and family engagement to ensure student academic success and to build Spartan Pride within our community.

This panel will meet 3-4 times a year, starting in September.  The hope of this panel is to share exciting updates from our North Community and hear feedback from families on new policies, projects, and changes that impact students and their families. The dates we will be meeting will be: Sept. 18; Nov. 6, Jan. 22 & April 9 at 5:00pm in the North Auditorium at North. Please enter door #7.

In an effort to improve safety and overall efficiency of traffic flow during before school and after school we ask that parents/guardians pick up their student in either the East or West parking lots. Please do not use the circle drive on Smith Ave as Kobussen school buses use this area to pick up and drop off students. We thank you for your understanding as we continue to work to ensure student safety during the before school and after school pick up times.

Senior Pictures
Senior pictures are due to Ms. Klein, the yearbook advisor, by October 31, 2024. Pictures can be sent as a jpeg file to oshkoshnorthyearbook@gmail.com. If it is not possible to send the pictures digitally, a hard copy can be brought to Ms. Klein’s classroom, which is Room 235.

Parents are also encouraged to purchase senior ads for their graduating sons or daughters. Ad purchasing is being accepted now until February 14, 2025. Full page ads are $200, half page ads are $120, and quarter page ads are $75. See enclosed ad contract for more information!

HIGH SCHOOL MEAL SERVICES

2024-2025

All students at the High Schools are able to eat 1 free breakfast combo and 1 free lunch combo.

A LA CARTE SERVICE AT THE HIGH SCHOOLS is available to all students who have money in their food account or cash along to pay at the registers.  A la carte items are NOT included with the meals and must be purchased using their Food Service Account (if there is money in their account) or with cash at the register. A la carte items include but are not limited to chips, juice drinks, ice cream, cookies, and PB & J uncrustables.  Extra entrees would be included as an a la carte item. (example of an extra entrée would be an extra slice of pizza etc). All items sold from Food Service follow the nutritional guidelines put forth by the Federal Government.

APPLICATIONS FOR FREE AND REDUCED PRICE MEALS will be available online on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal in mid-July and will also be mailed out in the US mail to all households in mid-July.  Please return your completed application to the Food Services Office, Oshkosh West High School, 375 N. Eagle St., Oshkosh, WI  54902, or the School Office your child attends on or before the first day of school.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM The food service department is seeking individuals to work for our department serving breakfast and / or lunch. The majority of these positions available are 1.5 - 2 hours in length and are during the breakfast and lunch service time, which varies with the school.  Opportunities for longer shifts and additional hours may also be available.  Please see the WECAN at https://wecan.education.wisc.edu website for employment opportunities along with applying for positions within the Food Service Department.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students who are 18 years of age or older (“eligible students”) certain rights with respect to the student’s education records. These rights are:
1. The right to inspect and review the student’s education records within 45 days after the day a written request is received.
2. The right to request the amendment of the student’s education records that the parent or eligible student believes are inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation of the student’s privacy rights under FERPA.
3. The right to provide written consent before the school discloses personally identifiable information (PII) from the student’s education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
4. The right to know that school districts can disclose education records to each other without parent consent if student is enrolling or transferring to another district.
5. The right to file a complaint with the US Department of Education concerning alleged failures by a school to comply with the requirements of FERPA. The name and address of the Office that administers FERPA are:

OASD Visitor Management System - effective September 1, 2023
● A universal procedure for visitor check in/check out will be implemented at all OASD schools
starting September 1, 2023.
● All visitors will check in at the Chromebook kiosk station where they will submit their name,
reason for visit, and location they are reporting to in the building.
● All visitors will be issued a badge that will be returned upon check out.
● All visitors will check out at the Chromebook kiosk station.
● Students will also check in/check out at the Chromebook kiosk station during the school day.
● This new procedure gives accurate information and location of visitors in the building,
provides a listing of all adults in the building, and provides a list of students checking in/out in
one document.

Please note that a volunteer application only needs to be filled out one time per school year regardless if you want to volunteer in multiple schools.
